Seattle has long been considered a center of progressive thought and action. But like any other growing city it has wrestled with familiar demons: racism, class struggles, economic opportunism, sexism, and more. Since the 2016 election, many progressive voices throughout the city have emerged with the goal of transforming Seattle into a central staging ground for resistance against the rise of restrictive and damaging policies in our nation.

Amid such turbulent times, Town Hall joined forces with South Seattle Emerald founder Marcus Harrison Green to gather together voices from Fly To The Assemblies!, a collection of writing by activists and journalists who are determined not to let injustice become the new status quo. They took Town Hall’s stage to question, criticize, and challenge the sociopolitical structures in place, and seek out solutions and changes that represent all Americans, not just a privileged and wealthy few. Listen in for an inspirational and diverse gathering of voices exploring the redoubled challenges facing citizens today.

Recorded live at Rainier Arts Center by Town Hall Seattle on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
