For actress, director, and author Amber Tamblyn, the massive upheaval to break out of her acting career led her to what she calls an Era of Ignition—a phenomenon which she sees all around her in America today.
Tamblyn joined us with insight from her new book Era of Ignition: Coming of Age in a Time of Rage and Revolution, outlining the similarities between her own journey from actress to writer and the widespread movements by activists across America to confront our nation’s values, agitate for change, and take direct action. Tamblyn took the stage to address gender inequality, misogyny, discrimination, trauma and the veiled complexities of consent, white feminism, reproductive rights and sexual assault, and so much more—all told through the personal lens of her own experiences. Amber Tamblyn is an author, actor, and director. She’s been nominated for an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Independent Spirit Award for her work in television and film, including House M.D. and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. She is the author of three books of poetry, including the critically acclaimed bestseller Dark Sparkler, and a novel, Any Man, and she is a contributing writer for the New York Times.
